About 'Galway Bay Medical Centre'Galway Bay Medical Centre was established in June 2008 by Dr Sinead Murphy, a GP who has been working in Galway city since 2003. She is joined by another GP - Dr Marina Curran. Both doctors are fully trained GPs and have many extra qualifications relevant to general practice. The practice offers a wide range of medical services in a professional yet relaxed atmosphere. Practice nurse Evelyn Browne joined the staff in January 2011. Mission Statement
On average 90% of your medical problems can be dealt with directly by your GP without the need for further referral. General practice is by far the most efficient component of Ireland's health service, with rapid access to appointments and expertise. Here at Galway Bay Medical Centre, we are happy to offer you a very comprehensive service so you can get as much as possible under one roof. Who Can We Treat?We are happy to treat anybody who requires medical assistance, whether you are a private patient or hold a medical card or doctor visit card. We are also happy to see people who have recently moved to Galway or are here on a temporary basis. Visitors from the EU who hold a valid European Health Insurance Card do not have to pay for emergency GP visits during their stay. Please note, if you have a medical card registered with another GP then this is who you should attend when you need to see a doctor. However if you are away from home or need emergency medical assistance we can treat you. All GMS/DVC or EHIC cards must be valid and presented on arrival. What Can We Treat?Please refer to our 'Services' section for full details of our routine GP services, Family Planning options, Travel Vaccine clinic (including yellow fever), Womens' Health, Mens' Health, cryotherapy, STI screening, suturing, antenatal care, childhood and flu vaccines,cholesterol/diabetes screening and our weight loss clinic. When Can We Treat?Appointments are available from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. There are limited lunchtime appointments available some days, strictly by advance arrangement. Out-of-hours GP cover for registered patients is provided 24/7 through a Galway city GP rota. If you are a patient of the practice and require emergency assistance out of hours just phone the surgery and our answering service will direct you further. Visiting From Abroad?The GP is your first point of contact within the Irish health service, this is who you should see if you have an urgent medical problem while holidaying in Ireland. GPs can resolve approximately 90% of such issues, and can refer you further if the need arises. Read More >> |
