Welcome to our new Urgent Care Clinic

Suitable for ACUTE ILLNESS ONLY - something that is making you feel unwell in the last few days or hours, such as:

• UTI
• Sore throat/tonsillitis
• Respiratory infection
• Allergic reaction
• Ear infections
• Flu-like illness
• Vomiting bug
• Conjunctivitis
• Sinus infection
• Some injuries
• Some acute rashes eg. shingles, hives

This clinic is not suitable for the management of chronic illnesses. If you are unsure if your illness or injury is suitable for this clinic please do not book directly and phone us instead. This is a paid private service, so if you are a GMS card holder, please contact us in the usual manner to arrange an urgent appointment.

We give priority to registered patients of Galway Bay Medical Centre and to patients who are visiting Galway during their illness given that their usual doctor is based elsewhere.

Please be advised that visiting our same-day acute illness clinic does not guarantee that you will become a registered patient of Galway Bay Medical Centre for ongoing care. Our usual protocols apply depending on capacity.

Patients registered with another GP in Galway, we encourage you to contact your own GP first. If your own practice is unable to offer you an appointment in a timely manner, we may be able to accommodate you on a once-off basis for acute medical care only.

Payment is required to secure booking. For patients of Galway Bay Medical Centre who hold a valid GMS card, please do not make a payment through this portal. Our service to GMS card holders remains unchanged. Please contact us in the usual manner and we will offer urgent and same-day appointments where this is deemed medically necessary.
